Dowse Art Museum - The Creative Heart of Lower Hutt

The Dowse Art Museum stands as one of the most vibrant cultural destinations in the heart of Lower Hutt, showcasing contemporary art, design, and creative expression at their finest. This innovative institution presents rotating exhibitions featuring works by both emerging local and established international artists, creating a dynamic space where visitors can engage with cutting-edge artistic practices. The museum's striking architecture adds to the experience, transforming the building itself into an integral part of the artistic journey.

Located adjacent to the welcoming Dowse Square, the museum extends its hospitality through an on-site café where visitors can reflect on their experiences over a coffee or light refreshment. Beyond traditional exhibitions, the Dowse offers interactive programs, workshops, and community events that make art accessible to families, students, and curious travelers alike. More than just a gallery, this venue serves as a cultural meeting place and event space, demonstrating how artistic practice can enrich and transform a community.
